"Soon silence will have passed into legend. Man has turned his back on silence. Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation...tooting, howling, screeching, booming, crashing, whistling, grinding, and trilling bolster his ego. His anxiety subsides. His inhuman void spreads monstrously like a gray vegetation." ~Jean Arp
This quote talks about silence. That most of us don't know the sound of silence anymore, silence is something that is incomprehensible if not felt physically, it is like the color of nothing. You do not know it and you can't really reproduce it in your imagionation. Now silence is a sound of less noise, but silence is the extrenme factor that can cause our minds to fly into other dimensions, that lets our bodies rest in perfect harmony with its environment and lets us be what we have always wanted to be.
Machines break this, perverting our perception of this beautiful concept. Making us loose any notion of this human nature defying idea.
